The short answer

In winter, sell coats and puffers, knitwear, boots, hoodies and fleece, scarves and beanies. Add party wear and gifts from early November for December. In January, Vinted says listings of unwanted gifts on the first Sunday of the year average three times the normal daily rate, so expect competition. Keep winter stock listed until February, price heavy coats to clear by the end of the month, and start adding light spring jackets late February.

What our data can and can’t tell you

Our month-by-month data comes from public listings created with Vintefy between 22 March and 12 October 2026. It does not include November to February yet, so for those months we rely on what Vinted and the press have published, and on general seasonality. What we can show is the run-up: by October, coats and jackets made up 15.4% of listing titles, against 5.1% in June.

Sequin, glitter and velvet pieces are still a small share (1.0% in July, 1.8% in September), but these are the items that peak around December parties. We will publish the winter months once we have them.

December, January and February

December

Party wear and gifts

Sequin, velvet and satin pieces, going-out dresses, bags, jewellery and anything new with tags that works as a present. List them from early November so they are found in time.

January

Coats still sell, gifts flood in

Winter is far from over, so keep coats, knitwear and boots listed. Expect heavy competition from unwanted gifts in the first week.

February

Last call for heavy coats

Price winter pieces to clear, list Valentine’s outfits early in the month, and start adding light jackets for spring at the end of February.

December: party season and Christmas gifts

Second-hand gifting is mainstream now. Research by Vinted and Retail Economics estimated that UK shoppers would spend over £2 billion on second-hand Christmas gifts in 2024, more than 10% of all gift spending, and 84% of shoppers said they were likely to spend part of their gift budget on pre-loved items. Items that work as gifts: anything new with tags, bags and small leather goods, jewellery, scarves and gloves, books, and recognisable brands.

Mind the post. Sellers have 5 working days to ship an order, and carriers slow down in the last weeks before Christmas. If you will be away, use holiday mode rather than leaving listings live.

January: Sell-It Sunday and the gift flood

Vinted calls the first Sunday of the year “Sell-It Sunday” and says listings of unwanted gifts that day average three times the normal daily rate. For the post-Christmas period it reported on, the most-listed categories were women’s toiletries and perfume, jewellery, nightwear and make-up, and fashion led sales, followed by entertainment and electronics. In 2027, Sell-It Sunday falls on 3 January.

That means more competition for the same buyers. If you are selling gifts, list them before New Year or make the listing clearly better: a sharp first photo, an exact title and a fair price. Meanwhile, January is still mid-winter, so coats, boots and knits keep selling while new-season stock fills the shops.

February: Valentine’s and the switch to spring

List date-night outfits, red and pink pieces and jewellery in the first days of February. In the second half of the month, it is time to clear heavy winter coats and to start listing transitional pieces: denim jackets, trench coats, light knits. In our data, coats and jackets were still 9.0% of listings in late March, mostly lighter jackets.

Trend data for Vinted is patchy, and only some of it is published by Vinted itself. What we found:

  • Vinted’s 2025 trend report, reported by Stylist, named bikini, Y2K, leopard and gilet as 2024’s buzziest keywords on the app, and Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and adidas as the brands with the most devotees.
  • In November 2024, nss magazine reported Vinted search rises of 239% for suede jackets, 161% for leopard print and 93% for cardigans. The article does not explain how the figures were measured, so treat them as indicative.

For brand-level prices and sell times, see what sells best on Vinted and our brand guides for The North Face, Patagonia, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger.

What to hold until spring

  • Swimwear: Vinted’s 2025 trend report found bikinis are about 5.5% cheaper in winter months.
  • Shorts, sandals, linen and sunglasses: they sit unsold for months and drag your average sell time down. Hide or delete them now and relist in April.

Pricing in winter

  • December: demand for gifts is high and time is short. Price fairly and reply to offers quickly; buyers can offer up to 40% below your price, so leave a little room. See how to handle offers.
  • January: new stock is on sale in every shop, and Sell-It Sunday adds competition. Sharpen prices on items that have had views but no sales.
  • February: price heavy coats to clear. A coat that does not sell by March will usually wait until September.
  • All season: relist anything unsold every 10 to 14 days and change as much as you can: new photos with the free photo refresher, a new description from the free description generator, a new title and an adjusted price. We recommend posting between 19:00 and 21:00 (our recommendation, not official Vinted data). More in the relisting strategy.

Winter photo tips

Winter light is short and grey, which makes dark coats and knits look flat.

  • Shoot at midday by a window. Avoid evening photos under warm ceiling lights; they turn black wool brown.
  • Show coats worn. Length, fit and how the collar sits are what buyers want to see.
  • Close-ups sell knits: the fibre label, the texture and an honest shot of any pilling.
  • For gifts, show tags and packaging. “New with tags” is only believable if the tags are in the photo.

Selling on Vinted in winter: your questions

What sells best on Vinted in winter?

Coats and puffers, knitwear, boots, hoodies and fleece, scarves and beanies, plus party wear and gift-able items in December. After Christmas, Vinted says unwanted gifts flood the app: toiletries and perfume, jewellery, nightwear and make-up were the most-listed categories in the post-Christmas period it reported on.

When is the busiest day to sell on Vinted after Christmas?

Vinted calls the first Sunday of the year “Sell-It Sunday”: it says listings of unwanted gifts on that day average three times the normal daily rate. In 2027 that is Sunday 3 January. Expect more competition that week, so list earlier or make your listings stand out.

Do coats still sell on Vinted in January and February?

Yes, but the window is closing. Buyers still need coats in January and February, while sellers start to move on to spring. Keep coats listed, relist them every 10 to 14 days with fresh photos and an adjusted price, and price to clear by late February.

Should I sell summer clothes on Vinted in winter?

Usually not. Vinted’s 2025 trend report, reported by Stylist, found bikinis are about 5.5% cheaper in winter months. Unless you are targeting winter-sun holidays, wait until April.

Is it worth selling Christmas jumpers on Vinted?

Yes, if you list them early: from November to mid-December. After Christmas, demand drops sharply until the next season. List them with clear photos and a title that says “Christmas jumper”, since that is how buyers search.

Can I pause my Vinted shop over Christmas?

Yes. Holiday mode hides all your listings for up to 90 days, and you can turn it off at any time. Use it if you cannot post parcels over the holidays: sellers have 5 working days to ship an order, or it is cancelled automatically.
